There are three methods of recording MIDI data
1. Internal Sequencer
- New feature with Classic Control Computer Version 6 and above
- It is a simple, but convenient,
sequencer built into the combination-action system, which may be used to record
and play performances. Although relatively simple, it has many useful features.
- It is controlled primarily via three Lighted Reversible pistons labeled “PLAY”,
“PAUSE/FILE MODE” and “RECORD”, and is intended to be quick and easy to use via
on-screen messages in the organ’s vacuum-fluorescent display.
2. Stand-alone Sequencer
- A device attached to the console specifically for making and playing MIDI recordings
- Has limited editing and file-management capabilities
3. PC/Mac-based Sequencer
- This is the most powerful approach because the editing features are vast and convenient graphic-user interface
- Needs to be able to record and play back MIDI System Exclusive messages in real time
