Control Systems - MIDI Features

The underlying philosophy of the Classic Organ Works MIDI implementation is to integrate external MIDI-stops into the console so that:
- It is as easy as possible for the organist to access the external MIDI sounds during a performance as additional stops of the organ,
- The resources of the expander can be exploited to the maximum by the musician, and
- There is no limitation as to what expanders the organist may choose to use.
The Classic Console Control Computer allows:
- An organ to have MIDI-stops on any or all divisions.
- MIDI-stops to be integrated into the console and operated by the organ controls such as drawknobs and rocker tabs.
- Use of MIDI hardware to generate sounds such as chimes, harpsichords, etc. as a low-cost way of providing these sounds.
- Up to four MIDI Expanders to be connected simultaneously.
- An organist to use 128 or more sounds by storing them in multiple MIDI levels. These MIDI levels may be accessed conveniently using direct-access pistons. They may be configured to step through MIDI-levels, or jump directly to any MIDI level.
- A builder to provide a MIDI division with couplers such as MIDI-to-Swell, MIDI-to-Great, etc.
- Record and Playback via MIDI in/out sockets for expanders and sequencers. Actions on the organ such as stop data, swell shoe movements, piston settings, MIDI-stop settings, etc. are recorded and can be played back exactly as recorded.
- Changing registration during playback of recording. With the ‘MIDI Registration Off’ control, recorded registrations are ignored and the organist's own registration is used.
- Remote Keyboard capability when connected to a MIDI keyboard with the ability to send ‘patch’ messages. The stops on the organ can be selected remotely via the organ’s combination pistons which is useful for tuning or voicing a pipe organ or for accompanying a choir from some remote location.
- Use of velocity/touch-sensing feature available on high-end MIDI expanders.
- Built-in sequencer holds up
to 99 performances.
- 1 MIDI port to connect record/playback sequencer or personal computer, with
Registration on/off feature.
- 4 MIDI
ports (version 5 and up) to connect stop-controlled MIDI-sound
expanders, with extensive MIDI
user-configurability, independent on each combination memory level.
- MIDI-traps and MIDI-effects,
programmable, derived from a MIDI-Expander
