Capitalizing on the vast experience of its engineering team in the development of comprehensive MIDI functionality for its pipe-organ control systems, Classic Organ Works has developed a new line of low-cost, MIDI-oriented products. For organists, organ enthusiasts, organbuilders, teachers, composers, etc., these MIDI products are designed to make it easier to make use of MIDI in situations relating to pipe organs.

These MIDI products fall into four main classifications:

MIDI controllers to generate MIDI outputs that can operate sound-generating devices such as the Classic GM-MIDI modules and the Ahlborn Archive modules or PC-based software programs such as Hauptwerk (the pipe-organ emulation program), Cakewalk (the widely-used sequencing system) and Sibelius (the popular scoring software).
Organ-style keyboards and pedalboards to drive the controllers with MIDI signals.
Sound-generating modules such as the GM-MIDI module. (Ahlborn Archive modules are also available through Classic Organ Works.)
Output interface boards that can permit non-MIDI equipment such as a rank of organ pipes to be controlled by MIDI.

Example of a Classic MIDI Organ Configuration

Below is a schematic diagram of a MIDI organ system that was demonstrated at the national convention of the Royal Canadian College of Organists in Ottawa, Canada, in July, 2003.

With this configuration, there were essentially two organs. Running on the laptop was a copy of Hauptwerk, the organ-emulation software, configured as an English-sounding instrument. The two Ahlborn Archive modules provided a more classical-sounding instrument.

The Ahlborn Archive modules, 3-manual MIDI keyboard stack and the MIDI pedalboard are all available from Classic Organ Works.
