Description

The MCU is specifically designed for organists, organ enthusiasts, and MIDI users. Organists may connect switches for keyboards, pedalboard, stops and pistons. Tuning, expression, crescendo, and volume controls may also be connected to the MCU.

Organ enthusiasts with an Ahlborn Archive SeriesTM (General Music Corporation, Italy) module may use the MCU to control divisions, stops, couplers, combination, pistons, channels, tremulants, Crescendo, expression, Sforzando (tutti), Cancel and tuning.

Up to four Ahlborn Archive modules may be controlled simultaneously.

With the addition of a GM-MIDI module (Classic Type GM9773), MIDI users can add the General MIDI sound set and control it through channel, voice variation, drumset variation, volume, expression and tuning.

The MCU also includes a convenient MIDI-merge feature which allows for simultaneous control of multiple MIDI devices.

Note: The MCU is shipped fully assembled with a single Switch Input Board (SIB-4). However, you can add as many as four input boards. Each input board has 64 inputs.

3 slots are reserved for keyboards only. 1 slot is a combination of pedalboard and switch inputs. 1 slot is all switch inputs which can be used for note on/off, program change messages, Ahlborn Archive commands, CM-100 commands, MSB, LSB, and change numbers for interfacing with other MIDI synths.

Features

  • Supports up to three 61-note keyboards and one 32-note pedalboard (all parallel wired).

  • Allows a maximum of 105 switch inputs for functions such as stops and pistons.

  • Five analog inputs are available for volume, expression, tuning, and crescendo inputs.

  • Simultaneously controls up to four Ahlborn Archive SeriesTM (General Music Corporation, Italy) modules.

  • On-board memory chip stores up to 128 user configurations programmed using the included computer software. These can be selected using the 8-position DIP switch on the MCU.

  • MIDI-input merge function allows multiple MIDI devices to be connected together.

  • Supports an optional GM-MIDI module.

  • Supports computer-based synthesizer software and organ-simulation software such as SCPOP (Sound Canvas Pipe Organ Project).

  • Headphone jack for practice purposes.

  • ‘Line Left’ and ‘Line Right’ audio connections for audio equipment.

Applications

The MCU is designed as an interface between an organ and MIDI. Typically, users have MIDI sound modules or PC-based synthesizer software and would like to control these sounds through switches on the organ. Thus, the MCU is sold with five pre-configurations, one to support the GM-MIDI sound module and four to support the Ahlborn Archive Units.

In the General MIDI pre-configuration, two 61-note keyboards, a 32-note pedalboard, nine stops, 93 pistons, expression/volume adjustment, and GM-MIDI fine tuning are supported.

Although five pre-configurations are included in the MCU, 123 additional configurations are available. All configurations are re-programmable. With the MCU, users can develop new and innovative configurations!
