Adjust the delay for MIDI message output using the Classic Organ Works MIDI Delay Controller.
Purchase

The MDC is currently not available on our online store. Please contact us for order inquiries.
Description

Delays ranging from 300 microseconds to 76.5 milli-seconds may be selected by the user. These are adjusted in 300 microsecond steps with four LEDs to indicate each 4.8 milli-second step. With an adjustment rate of 4.2 milli-seconds per second, the delay setting may be changed in 18 seconds from the minimum delay time to the maximum delay time. An output pin is present for users with oscilloscopes for precision delay time adjustment.
The MDC is powered using a 9-Volt negative-inner DC adaptor.
Features

- Delays MIDI
messages ranging from 300us to 76.5ms in 300us steps.
- Four LEDs to indicate (in binary form) the state of delay in 4.8ms steps.
- The amount of delay is adjusted at a rate of 4.2ms/s. Thus, it requires 18 seconds to select from the shortest delay (300us) to the longest delay (76.5ms).
- Output-pin for precision time delay adjustment using an oscilloscope.
Applications

The MDC is ideal for MIDI audio equipment in a church or theatre setting. In these situations, long distances and multiple audio signals contribute to audio signals being time-shifted. The MDC introduces an adjustable delay to correct the differences in time between the MIDI signal and other audio equipment.
The MDC is used in the historic Fargo theatre in Fargo, North Dakota. There, renovations included the installation of a digital grand piano for their theatre organ. However, due to electronics, mechanics and acoustics, the audio output from the digital piano produced sound slightly faster than the other instruments. The MDC was used to provide a 30ms delay to synchronize the digital piano with the other instruments during play.
